The Club Championship started last Tuesday.  The games were hard fought but the results eventually followed the seeding, except well done to Andy for holding Charlie to a dramatic and well deserved draw.  The 1st round results were: Geoff Sage  1 - 0  Jane Reece Iain Smith  0 - 1  Phil Ramsey Ken Payne  1 - 0  Harry Baybutt Barry Pursall  0 - 1  Danny Green Charlie Fletcher  0.5 - 0.5  Andy Williams Harris  0 - 1  Louis Burt Chris Kaye  0.5 bye Ged Varney  0.5 bye Tony Yih  0.5 bye The 2nd round will be played on Tues 18th Oct.  The draw will be made a week before.  Anyone requiring a half-point bye for the next round, please let Phil know before the draw is made.

The Club Championship will be held on 5 Tuesdays before Xmas, on 4th Oct, 18th Oct, 25th Oct, 22nd Nov and 6th Dec. The time limit will be 1 hour for each player. A half-point bye (one per person) will be available on any round if you inform Phil the week before. A tie-break will be played if the top scores are level after 5 rounds. Sign-up at the club or by email to Phil, by 7:35pm on Tues 4th Oct.  Round 1 will start at 7:45pm. Results and pairings will be posted on the website.

 The minutes of the 2022 AGM which was held on the 14th June are now available in the GOVERNANCE section.

    Southport Chess Club  be holding another Blitz competition at the Central Club on Tuesday  21st June.  If you’d like to play please arrive around 7.30pm and we’ll start by 7.45pm.  Same format as usual, 5 rounds of 8 minute games, with pairing on a swiss system.
